2. Local-First Design (Your Data, Your Control)
Inner Citadel is built with a local-first architecture. This means:
- Your daily reflections, Stoic journals, evening audits, and sorted stressors are stored directly in your device’s local secure memory.
- We do not transmit your journals or reflections to our servers automatically.
- If you delete the App, all your local data is immediately deleted from your device. We do not retain backups of local-only records.
3. Optional Cloud Synchronization
You can optionally enable Cloud Synchronization to back up your journal entries and sync them across devices. If you choose to enable this feature:
- Authentication: We use Firebase Authentication to secure your account. This requires an email address and password. We do not share your authentication details with third parties.
- Database Sync: Your records are transmitted over an encrypted SSL connection and stored securely in Cloud Firestore. This cloud database is subject to strict security rules, ensuring only your authenticated account can read or write your data.
- Deletion: You can completely and permanently wipe all your data from our cloud servers at any time by selecting the "Delete Account" option in the App Settings.
4. AI Mentor Conversations
When you chat with our AI Stoic Mentors (e.g., Marcus Aurelius, Seneca, Epictetus):
- Your messages are processed using the Gemini API. These inputs are sent to the API securely to generate replies in the tone of the ancient philosophers.
- These queries are stateless; the text you submit is used solely to construct the prompt and generate the response, and is not stored long-term on our servers.
- Your conversations are never sold, rented, or used to train general foundation machine learning models.
5. Zero Tracking and Ads
We are fully committed to a tracker-free experience:
- We do not display advertising in the App or on our landing page.
- We do not collect or store your location data.
- We do not use advertising trackers or share your data with data brokers or marketing services.
- We collect basic, anonymous crash reports (via Firebase Crashlytics) to debug errors and improve app stability. These reports do not contain personal information, journal text, or identifiable records.
6. Data Security
We utilize industry-standard measures to safeguard your database sync data, including HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit and access controls via secure Firebase security configurations. However, no database transmission over the internet can be guaranteed 100% secure; please protect your account password diligently.
